Giving the company's AI support agent direct, reliable access to real payment data — so money questions get real answers in seconds, never guesses

What This Is

Payment and payout questions are some of the most common reasons a customer conversation needs a human at all, since account-specific billing and payout data usually isn't something a support AI can just look up. This is the effort to change that: giving the company's AI support agent direct, reliable access to real payment data so creators and students get accurate answers immediately, without waiting on a human to go look something up manually.

The value is straightforward for each side of the relationship. For creators, it means getting a real answer about a payout or subscription status in seconds instead of opening a ticket. For students, it means the same for a course purchase or charge question. For the support team, every one of these questions answered automatically is a conversation that never has to reach a queue. And for the company, it's a direct lever on support cost and response time for one of the highest-friction categories of customer contact: money questions.

The guiding principle behind the build: the AI agent should never guess about a payment question. It either has a reliable way to get the real answer, or it hands the customer to a person — never a plausible-sounding guess.

Scope

Covers every kind of payment and payout question a creator or student might have: subscription and billing status, payout status and schedule, course purchase and receipt questions, and eventually refunds and plan changes. The work spans every part of the company's payment surface, creator subscriptions, creator payouts (both domestic and international), and student purchases, since each behaves differently enough that they can't be treated as one problem.

Status

Rolling out unevenly by design, prioritized by where the data was easiest to make reliable first. Creator subscription and billing questions are fully self-serve today. Creator payout questions work in the most common cases, with the remaining gap concentrated in international payouts. Student purchase questions are the least mature part of the rollout today and still typically go to a human. Closing that gap, along with turning on refunds and plan changes as fully automated actions, is the direction the work is headed next.

A broader creator-facing router now exists covering the newer payments platform end to end: setup and account connection, checkout issues, payout questions, missing-feature reports, and payment settings, branching a creator into the right sub-flow for their specific need. Whether it's actually resolving well across those five branches or leaning heavily on human handoff isn't confirmed yet, that's the open data question.
